Suspension of principal and interest repayments in support of businesses in affected areas indicated in annex A to Italian Decree Law no. 145 of 18 October 2023, converted, with amendments, by Law no. 191 of 15 December 2023, as amended and extension of reporting deadlines

Suspension of payments

In its meeting of 19 December 2023, the Financial Support Committee decided to suspend up until 31 December 2024, on request of beneficiary companies, the payment of principal and interest for repayments falling due from 2 November 2023 to 31 December 2024.

The suspension is for companies that are beneficiaries of loans from Fondo 394/81 (Fund 394/81) resources and from PNRR-Fondo 394/81 (NRPP-Fund 394/81) resources and related co-funded grants from the Fondo Promozione Integrata (Integrated Promotion Fund), which – at 2 November 2023 – had their registered office or an operating base in areas indicated in Annex A to Italian Decree Law no. 145 of 18 October 2023, converted, with amendments, by Italian Law no. 191 of 15 December 2023, as amended, and affected by flooding.

The application for suspension must be submitted by certified email using the form to apply for the suspension of 2023-2024 payments, published on SIMEST’s website, digitally signed by the legal representative of the applicant.

Suspension of the payment does not modify the original final deadline to repay loans, which in any case remains unchanged, and the payment of the suspended capital and interest must be made, at the latest, by the final deadline of 31 January 2025.

No contractual interest rate for late payment will be applied to the loan during the suspension.

SIMEST may check eligibility to access the suspension.

Suspension of reporting deadlines

In the same meeting, the Financial Support Committee decided to approve the possibility for businesses located in areas affected by the flooding as per annex A to Italian Decree Law no. 145 of 18 October 2023, converted, with amendments, by Law no. 191 of 15 December 2023, as amended, to request a 6-month extension to the deadlines for completing the initiative and therefore to the reporting deadline for subsidised loans disbursed using resources from Fund 394/81 and from the NRRP-Fund 394

Businesses may request a Completion Extension only once and before the end of the Completion Period initially established.

Interested businesses may request an extension from SIMEST by certified email only, digitally signed by the Legal Representative of the beneficiary company and sent to simest@legalmail.it, declaring they have an operating base in the aforementioned areas.
